About Biosecurity
Biosecurity is crucial for safeguarding animal colonies and maintaining research integrity. Our program includes strict protocols to prevent the spread of infectious agents.
DLAM oversees health monitoring, quarantine, import/export, transfers, outbreak control, sanitation validation, and quality control. Measures include controlled access, the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), proper sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization, as well as adherence to health classifications based on our exclusion panel. Transfers are conducted only when adequate testing is confirmed by sentinel testing, following room classification, and in the proper order of entry. We enforce strict quarantine and testing for incoming animals to ensure their health and protect immunocompromised models.
Sanitation and quality control are key parts of our program, ensuring a high level of cleanliness is achieved within all DLAM vivaria.
All import and export requests will be reviewed first by the ARC for protocol approval and compliance. Please review the policy for Acquiring and Housing Vertebrate Animals: Visit the Acquiring and Housing Vertebrate Animals policy.
