Animal Breeding & Conditioning Services

Our offerings include: 

  • Pairing and culling requests
  • Same-day animal releases are for sensitive groups (pregnant dams, neonates, etc.).
  • Internal animal transfer from BCM to PI-access vivarium space
  • Weaning  
  • Recording new litters
  • Health monitoring
  • Troubleshooting breeding issues

Biopsy Services

  • Sent to Transnetyx (see below for additional information)
    • Provided to the lab for analysis
  • Biopsy collection methods
    • Tail samples (animals 7-14 days old)
    • Ear clips (animals over 14 days old)

Identification Services

  • Toe tattoo (Hope System) – preferred method 
  •  Diagram labeled "Belly" showing four black glove-like hand images with numbered or labeled fingers ranging from 1 to 10 and 20 to 30.
  • Ear cuts/punches

  • Genotyping Services

    • As part of DLAM BCM, each sample sent to Transnetyx will be genotyped at the subsidized rate of $4.95, regardless of the number of alleles tested. Not only is this significantly lower than standard genotype pricing, but you also receive reliable results every time (loaded directly into the Colony software platform) within 24 to 72 hours.
  • AMI (Artificial Mouse Intelligence)
    • A program to help plan and manage breeding projects
    • All training for AMI is provided by Transnetyx directly
